Murkote is one of the oldest cat blogs on the web. It started in 2012 as a small Russian-language blog and has grown into a library of hundreds of articles about cat breeds, feeding, health, kitten care, behavior and cat names, now also available in English. Our goal is simple: to help every cat owner take better care of their cat.
Founder and Author
Hi, I’m Christina Andrusenko.
I’ve loved animals since I was a child, and they’ve been part of my life through good times and bad. I’ve always been happy to help dogs and cats in need.
I started Murkote in 2012, shortly after adopting my Scottish Fold cat, Mia, because I wanted to share what I was learning about how to look after cats properly and about the amazing variety of cat breeds. I have a medical education, which shapes how I approach health topics: carefully, based on reliable sources, and always with a reminder to see a vet.

How We Write Our Articles
- Our articles are written for cat owners in plain language, based on veterinary guidance and reputable sources.
- The English version of Murkote is adapted for readers in the US and UK, with local products, organizations, units and rules, not just translated.
- We regularly review and update older articles, and we remove advice that is outdated or unsafe.
- We don’t recommend home remedies or medication doses. For any health problem, we encourage you to contact your veterinarian.
- Some articles contain affiliate links. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects what we recommend.
All information on Murkote is provided for informational purposes only and isn’t a substitute for professional veterinary advice. Always consult your veterinarian before making decisions about your cat’s health.
