You know the answers to life’s commandments: why you can’t divide by zero and why you shouldn’t stare into a cat’s eyes!
Are you ready for a detailed answer?
Have you considered the pros and cons? Nevertheless, we have to ask you not to do it, because trying to look into a cat’s eyes can have the most unpredictable consequences!
Here you go and look into your cat’s eyes, while it reads your past and your future, and then turns away contemptuously – who are you compared to the one with nine lives?
So why don’t we make eye contact with a cat? Read the myth next.
The Myth
In one of these lives, the cat’s name was Bastet. She represented sun and moonlight for common people and was revered as the mother of life, the daughter of Osiris and Isis, as a goddess capable of giving health and the joy of beating.
The inhabitants of ancient Egypt (we are talking about those distant times) believed that Bastet and her tailed reincarnations are connected with the afterlife by insensible threads. They constantly transmit information from our world to the netherworld. This mysticism apparently gave rise to the myth of the special feline gaze.
The worshippers of Bastet have left an inscription for their descendants on the unbroken obelisk: “O marvelous cat, given for ages,” believing that reverence for the one who can walk silently between worlds will last through the generations.
Unfortunately, over time, people began to feel not reverence for cats at all, but rather fear. To find a black cat in the Dark Middle Ages is almost impossible. Those times are recorded in history as a veritable cat genocide. The mad time of the witch hunts was marked by the death of hundreds of purrs.
Inquisitors believed that witchcraft was impossible without the help of a small demon in the guise of a pet, and a cat, with its strange look, was perfect for this role (to be fair, cats were often suspected of witchcraft as well as goats). All this did not make me want to look into the cat’s eyes anymore.
Answer
Another answer to the question, “Why you should never look into cats’ eyes” many found in the Bible.
Experts of the Holy Book say that the cat is the only pet not mentioned in Scripture, which, you must agree, is suspicious!
In fact, there is nothing suspicious about the lack of reference in the Bible to an animal that had not yet been domesticated at the time the book was written!
But when an animal of prey became domesticated, it became very negative about direct eye-to-eye gazing – because in the
language of the domestic cat, such a gaze means approaching danger.
Now you understand, really, why you shouldn’t stare into a cat’s eyes.
From the kitty’s point of view, this is a sign of aggression.
And she, as a miniature predator, can give a preventive response to aggression.
By the way, an interesting observation is that only the pets can’t stand the direct look. Street cats react to it calmly!
